Vehicles with Automatic transmission –
On rear of IDCORE interface box ensure dip switch 8 is set to OFF (after any dip switch change, press the small reset button next to dip switches with a pin or similar) Turn car ignition ON, and select reverse gear. If you see a black screen when in reverse* – then wire camera as follows and picture should show
NOTE – for both front and rear camera inputs, only cameras with NTSC video output are supported.
Wiring – RED R.Rear 12v connects to power aftermarket camera – Plug camera video into yellow ‘Rear video‘ composite video connector
*If you do not see a black screen, this will mean that the interface box cannot get reverse data from your vehicle (e.g Audi with RMC/MMI Basic) – please follow instruction for manual transmission to get a picture.
Vehicles with Manual transmission –
On rear of IDCORE interface box ensure dip switch 8 is set to OFF, dip switch 4 set to ON (after any dip switch change, press the small reset button next to dip switches with a pin or similar)
Wiring – ORANGE REAR-C wire connects to vehicle reverse bulb (see car service for location/colour of this wire) R.Rear 12v connects to power aftermarket camera – Plug camera video into yellow ‘Rear video‘ composite video connector.
NOTE – If camera picture is unstable/black screen when engine running, this is caused by car CANBUS wiring fluctuating the voltage.
In this case, you can add a relay to solve – see guide below
Relay guide –
Suitable relay – 30/40 AMP 5 Pin 12V Auto Relay – widely available online
1) Locate a none CANBUS 12V source either directly from the battery or if available a rear 12V cigarette socket – Run a 12V cable with inline fuse from this connection to the installation area and finish with a female spade connector (to connect to the relay)
2) Attach a ground wire to a suitable earth point (you can use the same as the camera) and finish with a female spade connector.
3) Take the camera live and reverse switched live and finish with a female spade connector.
4) Connect a 12V wire to the live of the reverse lights (see live and reverse switch section above) and finish with a female spade connector. Now you have 4 female spade connections to connect to your relay – follow the diagram below for correct connection.
Front camera guide
*For IDC-JLRBSC Front/rear camera video will only display when our interface screen (i.e CarPlay or interface main menu) is displaying on screen. If factory menu is on screen, then it will not auto switch to display camera, you must first switch using NAV button to display interface.
Wiring guide –
Camera itself must be powered from a separate ignition switched 12v DC power source (i.e from vehicle fusebox) – there is no provision for front camera 12v power on IDCORE interface wiring loom. It is recommended to use a DC multimeter to ensure your front camera power feed is getting a stable power feed prior to final installation.
Yellow composite connector on CarPlay wiring loom, marked ‘FREAR VIN’ is for composite video signal.
How to display image from front camera –
There are two operating modes to display front camera image
If using in conjunction with an aftermarket rear view camera, front camera can display for 10 seconds after switching from reverse to forward gear.
To enable this mode, in IDCORE interface SETUP menu, switch FRONTVIEW to ‘ON’ – note this will not work if the car does not have an aftermarket camera connected to the IDCORE interface.
Camera image can be manually displayed on screen using CarPlay entry button (i.e NAV) to switch in/out.
To enable this mode, in IDCORE interface SETUP menu, switch DVR to ‘ON’.
